Alternate Anatomical Architectures | Stelarc | TEDxVienna
We face a future of stem-cell grown and bio-printed organs, prosthetic parts and exoskeletons. The body has become a contemporary chimera – a construct of meat, metal and code that performs as an extended operational system. Stelarc’s projects include the Third Hand, Exoskeleton, the Extended Arm, a Prosthetic Head (embodied conversational agent) and Ear On Arm (surgically constructed and stem-cell grown that will be internet enabled). He is presently Distinguished Research Fellow and Director of the Alternate Anatomies Lab, School of Design and Art (SODA), Faculty of Humanities, Curtin University, Perth. His artwork is represented by Scott Livesey Galleries, Melbourne.
