What comes after networks? The ‘network’ has been a defining feature of human activity since its conceptualization, and has found its way into nearly all facets of life: there are social and technological networks, biological and electrical networks, media networks and theoretical networks. But there are fundamental frictions to networks, and though it may be tough to understand what a world without them would be like, that is perhaps the best reason to ask anyway.

Mike is a composer, programmer and web show host. He is one third of the live, lecture-based performance art trio MemeFactory, which makes fast-paced work inspired by the intersection of technology and culture. He is the writer and host of the award-winning Idea Channel.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
