“Will you speak up, act, and be a part of this movement.” YouthSpeak Forum 2019
More than half of our young population are not aware of the change they are capable of making for a better future. According to YouthSpeak Survey, 55% of youth are not familiar with the Sustainable Development Goals.
On September 25th, 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, along with a set of bold Global Goals. Just 3 months later, in December 2015, AIESEC, the world’s largest youth organization present in more than 120 countries and territories, gathered at the United Nations Headquarters and became the first NGO to define their role in achieving the SDGs by creating the Youth4GlobalGoals initiative.
These days, actions to make our planet more sustainable are taking place all over the world. These projects, like YouthSpeak Forum, aim to provide people with a cross-cultural environment to share ideas, get inspired and widen their perspectives. In fact, since 2015, 93,000 delegates and 1000 partners have been engaged in 300 YouthSpeak Forums on a global level.
YouthSpeak Forums in Vienna
This year, YouthSpeak Forum Vienna took place on 19th March at the Austrian Academy of Sciences with the slogan “#IChooseAction. Do you?”. It was a platform to get inspired, engaged, and take action in an effort to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout the day, top experts and senior leaders from Coca-Cola, WWF, Teach For Austria, WWF, Teach For Austria, WU Gründungszentrum, Naku and Stadt Wien as well as Social Business Investor Thomas Varghese, joined us and shared their experiences holding multiple keynote lectures and workshops on pressing global issues. During the workshops, we had the chance to exchange views, ideas and aspirations. At the end of each workshop we created new, and most importantly, actionable projects that contribute to United Nations Global Goals.
