Social Business rocks Vienna – Part 1


 

Shortly after our anual conference, we organized an impressive Salon Event on Social Business with nobel peace prize winner Prof. Yunus.

About the talk

The traditional idea of development aid stopped working a long time ago. Even in case of natural disasters, western societies learned to involve the native population to reach social sustainability instead of complete dependency. But how? Well, you can achieve social and economic stability within a living and engaged community

About the speaker

2006 TED Prize winner Cameron Sinclair is co-founder of Architecture for Humanity, a nonprofit that seeks architecture solutions to global crises – and acts as a conduit between the design community and the world’s humanitarian needs. A regular contributor to the sustainability blog Worldchanging.com, Sinclair is now working on the Open Architecture Network, born from the wish he made when he accepted the 2006 TED Prize: to build a global, open-source network where architects, governments and NGOs can share and implement design plans to house the world.

 

About the talk

The worst word of the year, last years actually, seems to be banking: in times of crisis it is not well seen to work in any financial institution. Isn’t that weird, as if everybody who has ever worked in the financial sector was guilty. Of course there are various approaches to a more social business, but still they are small and unknown. One is the so called ‘Enlightened Capitalism‘.

About the speaker

In April 2006, Sava Dalbokov took over the CEO position at Erste Bank Serbia, to lead the transformation and integration process into the Erste Bank Group. He became CEO of good.bee Holding in January 2009, the microfinance and social entrepreneurship initiative of Erste Group and ERSTE Foundation. 2010 Mr. Dalbokov joined the managing board of the Steiermarkische Sparkasse in Graz, Austria in October 2010 to assume the strategic development responsibility for the banks international operations. He is married  and has two sons, likes rock & roll and moderately alternative things for a better world.

 

About the talk

Following the principals of Social Business is more than a business idea: it demands full commitment and a special kind of entrepreneurial skills. When you are dealing with a social business you have to be aware of one danger: you could get addicted 😉

About the speaker

Fionn Dobbin went from being Company Brand Manager for MOOZ! Advertisement /Riga to Innovation Team Designer for Adam Opel GmbH | GM Global Technology. Besides being now the Co-founder of “Shit Rules“, Mr. Dobbin is also the founder and Creative Director of “Mammu“, a social business fashion company.
