Join us for TED2019 – Bigger than us

At 2:30pm on April the 28th, the doors to Gartenbaukino will open just for us. Will you be there? That afternoon, we will gather and spectate as the Gartenbaukino live streams talks from the TED2019 “Bigger than us” conference. Grab your ticket and come!

Don’t know what TED and the TED conference is? Sit tight.

TED is a nonprofit organisation with the mission of spreading ideas. It was founded in 1984 originally focusing on new ideas in Technology, Entertainment and Design. As the organisation grew, so to did the diversity of themes, incorporating art, science, business and global issues, to name but a few. The ideas are usually spread as an 18 minute (or less) talk or performance.

TED organises a variety of events – including the TED Conference, TEDGlobal, TEDWomen, TED-Ed Weekend and much more. However, of all these events, the TED conference is “the heart of TED”. It is a five day conference, with over 1000 participants, held annually on the west coast of North America. This year, it will be in Vancouver and the topic is ”Bigger than us”. In case you are wondering what that means, here is a quick teaser:

“The political and technological turmoil of the past few years has had unexpected consequences: it’s causing us to ask bigger, deeper, more challenging questions. Like … where is this heading? what really matters? is there more I should be doing?

For TED in 2019, we’re joining that search for deeper meaning. We’ll be exploring technologies that evoke wonder and tantalise with superhuman powers, mind-bending science that will drive the future as significantly as any politician, the design of cities and other powerful human systems that shape our lives, awe-inspiring, mind-expanding creativity and most of all, the inspiring possibilities that happen when we ask what ideas are truly worth fighting for, worth living for.

Why should you join us?

We will broadcast two full length sessions on the big screen in the Gartenbaukino. Not only will you then have the opportunity to hear interesting ideas, be entertained but also be able to reflect on the projected themes. By joining us at the Gartenbaukino, you will also see the TED2019 talks before they become publicly available on Youtube, keeping you one step ahead. At the end of the evening, there will be a great opportunity to get to know fellow human beings, exchange impressions and expand your network. So what do you say? Will you be there?
